The bride has said "yes" to her wedding dress and the bridesmaid's dresses are selected. Now it's time to help your mom look for something to wear on your wedding day. Here are a few tips to help your mom say "yes" to her dress!
Plan AheadBefore you start, ask your daughter if she has an idea of what she would like to see you wear. Have her shop with you and ask her opinion when trying on dresses. Take your time when looking for a dress. Finding the right dress for an important occasion takes time. Compare dresses and prices before making your final decision. Start shopping a few months prior to the wedding in case you have to order your dress or make alterations. 
Where To GoAs the mother of the bride, you are going to want to find a dress that is a little bit different than the typical guest attire. You want to be original so you stand out among the wedding guests. It's a good idea to look through bridal magazines or check out the internet for some ideas and styles. Visit local bridal boutiques or dress shops. You can also check out online boutiques. 
ColorRule #1- Never wear white or cream! :)Other than that, any color will work. Try to coordinate with the colors of the wedding (flowers/bridesmaid dresses). Try a dress a few shades lighter or darker than the bridesmaid's dresses or find a complementary color that would work well with their dresses. Think about lighter colors for spring and summer and darker colors for the fall and winter months. 
StyleMother of the Bride dresses come in all different shapes and sizes. There are dresses with jackets, shawls, strapless and sleeves. Be sure to try on different styles and fits when looking for a dress. Choose something that flatters your shape and you feel good wearing. The wedding day is a long day, so be sure to select something that is comfortable. 
Try to choose a dress that goes with the theme of the wedding. If the wedding is a formal affair, think about choosing a long, floor length dress. If the wedding is a little more casual, choose a shorter tea length or cocktail style dress. You wouldn't want to be at an outdoor wedding in a floor length gown!
